Homegrown Festival 2012

Saturday 18th February 2012
As advised by Rhodri, I got myself tickets for the Homegrown Festival. It is a music festival that showcases New Zealand music talent. It takes place at Wellington waterfront and has around six different stages all playing different genres of music. I went along with Jonna in the afternoon and it took us pretty much all day to find Rhodri and co. We started off at the Dubstep tent where Six60 were playing. I'm not really down with the music scene and this didn't sound like dubstep music! It was good though however Jonna wasn't keen so we decided to try out the other tents.
We ventured to the Electro tent where we did lots of dancing and jumping up and down. Jumping was a lot of fun as the floorboards we were on actually had some bounce!! Lots of people around us figured the same thing too! After the Electro we headed to the RnB tent which had the worst music. It was actually RnB/Pop tent and the music was atrocious so we headed off to the Rock arena. This one was indoors and gave us shelter from the weather which began spitting a little. The music didn't really stand out to me but its hard when you don't know the bands or the songs and lyrics. It was fun to just be in a festival atmosphere.
Along the walk from tent to tent there was a waterfront ride called Turbo Boost. Jonna was very excited to try it out and I do love fairground rides but my fear of heights seem to be getting the better of me these days. I managed to psych myself up to doing this and it was amazing! So fun. A unique view of Wellington and when it went backward you had a face on view of being over 40ft up and heading down to the ground. That's the closest I will ever get to sky diving I believe!!!
Rock arena..
After visiting a pub, all the tents and drinking smirnoff ice (reminds me of being 18 again) we headed back to the dubstep tent. Much later on we finally found Rhodri and co!!
We found the others finally!!
After the Homegrown, Jonna and I headed to a few bars in Courtenay Place for some drinks and dance. We tried out Edisions, Lotus Rooms and our favourite, Motel!
Then we crashed out!!

P.S. The day before Homegrown I had news that one of my old school buddies got engaged!! Very exciting news so I took this for her especially. Just wanted to wish Wing and Stu congratulations from this side of the world and all the best!!! Very happy for them!! :D
